Data collection and recording
Document interventions in EDM.
Maintains patient flow
• Ensures that patients are brought back to the treatment area in a timely fashion.
• Anticipates needs of healthcare team to enhance patient flow.
• Ensures appropriate test schedules and tracking of patients throughout the system.
Coordination of information
Maintain the patient flow board, phone lists for staff, physicians, and referral groups. Tracking physician's status of on-call. Coordinating all incoming and outgoing information and paging.
Communication Skills
Positive Communication with nurses, providers, coworkers and patients. Communicates with nurses, patients, physicians, ancillary departments, and families effectively and professionally.
Assessments • Effectively assist licensed nurse in the care of the emergency department patient.
• Participates with the licensed nurse in the development and modification of the patient's plan of care, including pain management.
• Assists the healthcare team in implementation of plan of care and documents in chart from admission to discharge.
• Provides for patient safety.
• Uses MediTech software proficiently.
• Communicates effectively and professionally with internal and external customers. Maintains competence and effectiveness with EMS communications.
• Performs clinical duties as defined under ED policy and/or their licensure with the exception of intubation and medication administration.
• Lab draws, IV insertions, EKG, assists with nursing procedures as needed.
• Assist with patient transports with in the facility.
Position Qualifications:
Type Required Preferred
License (Virginia): Current EMT A, B, I, CT, or P in the Commonwealth of Virginia or National Registry; must maintain licensure/certification or must complete within 1 year of hire. Senior Level RN Nursing Student may be considered in lieu of EMT licensure X
Experience: One year as field EMT X
Certification/Registry: BLS within 90 days of hire/transfer X
